Narendra Modi and Ulf Kristersson on Sunday announced the elevation of relations between India and Sweden to a Strategic Partnership, marking a major step forward in bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
During the talks held in Sweden, both leaders discussed expanding collaboration in key sectors including trade, technology, innovation, defence, sustainability, and clean energy. The leaders emphasized strengthening economic engagement and promoting joint initiatives that can contribute to global growth and stability.
Prime Minister Modi, who arrived in Sweden for a two-day visit, also received the prestigious ‘Royal Order of the Polar Star, Degree Commander Grand Cross’. The award was presented in recognition of his exceptional contribution to India-Sweden relations and his leadership in strengthening international cooperation.
The visit is expected to deepen diplomatic and economic ties while opening new opportunities for strategic collaboration between the two countries in emerging technologies, green transition, and defence partnerships.
