Starbucks Plans First Corporate Technology Office in India to Reduce Costs and Expand In-House Operations

Global coffee giant Starbucks is preparing to launch its first corporate technology office in India as part of a broader international restructuring and cost-reduction strategy. According to reports, the company is targeting fiscal year 2027 for the new technology hub, which will help centralise key operations and reduce reliance on outsourced service providers.
The upcoming India office is expected to play an important role in handling technology development, digital operations, and internal corporate support systems. Starbucks reportedly plans to shift several outsourced positions into direct company management, aiming for greater operational efficiency and long-term savings.
The move is part of Starbucks’ larger strategy to cut nearly $2 billion in expenses globally. The company has recently gone through layoffs and internal restructuring, including relocating certain technology roles to Nashville in the United States.
Industry experts believe India’s growing reputation as a global technology and innovation hub makes it an attractive destination for multinational corporations looking to expand technical operations while controlling costs. The decision may also create new employment opportunities in software development, data management, cloud operations, and corporate technology services.
Starbucks has been steadily expanding its presence in India through retail growth and partnerships, and the new technology office signals a deeper long-term investment in the country beyond café operations. Analysts say the development reflects how major global companies are increasingly turning to India for strategic technology and business support functions.
