Raghav Chadha has raised concerns over current telecom data policies, suggesting that unused mobile data should not expire at the end of the day. The Rajya Sabha MP proposed that telecom operators should allow leftover data to be carried forward to the next day, ensuring better value for consumers.
He pointed out a common issue faced by users where they pay for a fixed daily data limit, such as 2 GB, but may only use a portion of it. The remaining data, often unused, simply expires at midnight, resulting in a loss for consumers. According to Chadha, this practice is unfair and needs reform.
The proposal, if implemented, could bring significant benefits to mobile users by improving data utilization and reducing wastage. It may also encourage telecom companies to adopt more customer friendly policies in an increasingly competitive market.
While no official changes have been announced yet, the suggestion has sparked discussion around consumer rights and fair pricing in the telecom sector.
