CM Vijay Wins Floor Test in Tamil Nadu Assembly, TVK Government Proves Majority with 144 MLAs

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay achieved a major political victory after his TVK-led government successfully passed the floor test in the Tamil Nadu Assembly with the support of 144 MLAs. The result confirmed the stability of the newly formed government and marked an important moment in the state’s political landscape.
The trust vote saw support coming not only from TVK legislators but also from alliance partners and several other parties. Congress MLAs, members from CPI, CPI(M), VCK, and IUML extended support to the government. In addition, a section of rebel AIADMK legislators also voted in favour of the motion, helping the government comfortably cross the majority requirement.
Political observers described the development as a significant achievement for Vijay, whose transition from cinema to politics has attracted nationwide attention. His rise to the Chief Minister’s position has already reshaped Tamil Nadu politics, and the successful floor test has further strengthened his authority within the Assembly.
The majority mark reportedly reduced from 118 to 117 after Vijay resigned from the Trichy (East) Assembly seat following his elevation as Chief Minister. Despite political opposition and intense debate before the voting process, the TVK-led coalition managed to secure strong numbers inside the House.
Supporters celebrated the victory across different parts of Tamil Nadu, calling it a historic moment for the party. Analysts believe the result will provide stability to the government and allow Vijay to move forward with his election promises, including welfare initiatives, governance reforms, and youth-focused policies.
The opposition, however, questioned the political alliances behind the support extended to the government and hinted at continuing aggressive opposition inside the Assembly. Even so, the floor test outcome has clearly established Vijay’s position as the current leader of the House and given his administration a strong start.
